# Convert HEIC to GIF

To convert HEIC to GIF, run `npx optimo photo.heic --format gif`. GIF is still required for some legacy workflows. Optimo handles format conversion and optimization in a single step.

## Command

Convert a file by targeting the output format:

```
npx optimo photo.heic --format gif
```

Tip: add `--dry-run` to preview changes.

## Why convert?

- GIF is still required for some legacy workflows.
- Best for simple graphics; photos are usually better as JPEG/WebP/AVIF.
